A Nook of Simple Quotes

"Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!" ~ Og Mandino

My Thoughts:

It is a very serious message that Og Mandino has made. Many of us do waste a lot of time and wasted time can never be regained. We must think carefully about this. Today was here and now it is gone forever. We therefore have to decide up front how we are going to use it and be thankful for having it. Showing gratitude for it will also help you to use it wisely. The author of this quote is suggesting that we should always thrive to live each day of our lives with meaning and purpose. We must not take for granted that a day can be wasted. It ought to be treasured. Do you use your days wisely? Is there something that you will like to do today, if you can create the space to do it? What are your thoughts, has it resonated with you?

"Accept yourself. Love yourself just as you are. Your finest work, your best moments, your joy, peace, and healing, come when you love yourself. You give a great gift to the world when you do that. You give others permission to do the same: to love themselves. Revel in self-love. Roll in it. Bask in it, as you would the sunshine." ~ Melodie Beattie

My Thoughts:

Love who you are? It is only by loving who you are that you will have the confidence to pursue what you want to achieve in life and actually succeed. Success comes with self-love. Self-love leads to self-empowerment.

"It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had." ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

My Thoughts:

Taking charge of your life, and knowing that your life does not go on indefinitely but there will come a time when you will passed on from this life. Knowing and accepting that we are immortal should help us to live more meaningful lives. You also know that your life is not controlled by you and every day that you get is your lease with your maker. It is his gift to you. So with each day you have awake and be grateful for that and before the day is done, make sure you complete you task towards your wider goal.

"Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful." ~ Mark Victor Hansen

My Thoughts:

This quote resonates with me because there have been times when I too felt that the time was not right to do something. Throughout my career as a educator, trainer, entrepreneur and business coach, I have met many people who are prevented from making progress or achieving great accomplishments because of their thoughts. Some people have therefore procrastinated, and never moved forward to achieve anything. The author suggests that there is no better time than right now. The conditions may never be “just right.” If there is something that you want to do, pursue it now and you will find that it wasn’t so difficult after all.

"When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing - just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?" ~ Ralph Marston

My Thoughts:

After reading the quote by Ralph Marston I immediately thought about how really important it is to pause and what pausing does for us. As women we seem to believe that we have to be busy every day of the week as well as every hour of the day, so that we are not perceived as lazy or not doing anything by others. We allow others to dictate the life that we lead. You need time to move away from that which is mundane, and find yourself in another place where reflection can occur. We need to be in a reflective mood so that we can become silent and it is at this moment in time that you can really see and behold and come to remember that life has the now, the then and what's to come. You do not know what the future holds, but you will be reminded of the past and you can hold it in your heart and be grateful for having enjoyed it. The present so far is wonderful, therefore you should savor it and the future, that is the unknown - - but like any explorer go into it with an open mind and what you may find maybe better than anything you have known. It can be better than the past and better than your present, and well, and your present future could be marvelous. Just enjoy the life that you were gifted with by your Savior.

"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it." ~ Groucho Marx

My Thought:

It makes me think that I have the power to design and create the life that I want - - a life in which I am happy! It also makes me think that: for each day that is gifted to me, I  must be grateful and appreciative and that I must live life to it fullest- - Live life with intention, purpose and authenticity!

"Everyone has inside them a piece of good news. The good news is you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!" ~ Anne Frank

My Thoughts:

Remember we are created by God as a unique, compassionate, loving and creative person with our special gift. Identify your gift and develop it with all that you have. Reach out and connect with others so that you can grow and soar. Let your "good news" be seen and heard around the globe. We have the internet! Let's do it! You will be "led into something greater."

"Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long. Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come." ~ Og Mandino

My Thoughts:

If you make a mistake when doing something, don't dwell on the mistake that you have made, but thinks about the ways that you can modify it. Mistakes are what all of us make but we can learn from it and not make it deter us from ever trying again. It should serve as your motivator to do more and achieve more.

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order to have what you want." ~ Margaret Young

My Thoughts:

Yuh! "You must be first who you really are, then, do what you need to do in order to have what you want." Is she suggesting that we must first be authentic, before we can acquire our purpose in this life and through that life, we can then live a meaningful life.

"Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

My Thoughts:

This quote reminds me of how lonely the road to successful entrepreneurship can be! There are always people in your life to tell you that you shouldn’t be taking on a task, particularly if it’s tied into your creativity and passion and entails your independence. While this may relate to the many different choices that we make in life, as an entrepreneur, we are often confronted by our parents, brothers, sisters, friends, and other family members who think that you should not be pursuing a business venture but that you should be thinking in terms of "finding a good job" or finding a "permanent job" rather than pursuing "this thing" as your business venture is often reduced to.

The voices of these negative messages often resonate with you during challenging periods of your business ventures, and we often ponder on the messages we received from those we value most in our lives. We often think, "Am I right in pursuing my passion?" or Am I mad to have taken this course? And are they right in their assessment of me?” We often doubt our actions and this process of self-doubt goes on for a while, and as a consequence cripples our progress towards developing a successful business. According to Emerson, to succeed you should map out a course of action and follow it through. However to define a course of action and implement it successfully, you must get rid of the voices of doubt and be courageous in the pursuit of your happiness. Those negative voices only serve as obstacles to hinder your growth and development.
